Drawing activities for ages 3–5

For preschool-age artists, the goal is not a perfect picture. It is a comfortable experience moving a crayon, noticing a shape, and enjoying time beside a grown-up.

1

Trace

Begin with a bold dotted shape and plenty of room for the line to wander.

2

Copy

Place a large example nearby and talk about one shape at a time.

3

Draw

Offer a blank space, but keep tracing available whenever it feels more comfortable.

Designed for drawing together

The current DooLuma web tutorials were created primarily for ages 4–8. Children ages 3–5 may enjoy the simplest ideas with direct adult help. A dedicated Trace → Copy → Draw collection is in development.
