The sun begins with a single circle, which makes it one of the gentlest drawings to start with. The rays are small ovals rather than spikes, so they are soft and forgiving even for a wobbly hand. Work through it together and let your child count the rays out loud as they go.

Make it your own

Set the sun above a beach, a garden or a row of rooftops, add sunglasses for a hot day, or tuck a small cloud across one corner. Colouring the rays in oranges and yellows makes it glow.
