How to Draw a Penguin for Kids
Learn how to draw a round, waddling penguin in four easy visual steps. This calm, screen-free drawing activity is designed for beginner artists ages 4–8 and their grown-ups.

The penguin starts with one simple arc for the top of the head, so there is no pressure to get a whole shape right at once. The flippers and the tummy oval do the rest of the work. Sit together, follow the four panels, and let your artist name the penguin at the end.
Make it your own
Set your penguin on an ice floe with snowflakes falling, or add a stripey scarf and a woolly hat. A slide down a snowy slope with little speed lines is always a favourite.
Draw a penguin in four steps
Step 1
Draw one curved arc for the top of the head, like a hill on the page.
Step 2
Carry the curve down into a rounded head and add one small flipper sticking out from each side.
Step 3
Draw the full oval body below and add two flat feet pointing outwards at the bottom.
Step 4
Finish with a large tummy oval, two round eyes and a small triangle beak.
